This is the most important book published in the past 12 months. Pastors Ascol and Longshore describe what is happening in the church (I amplify to the western church, not only the American). What they say is the plain truth, something we almost never find so directly described in a book. What they write is sad, but it is the truth and the reader must do something about it! At the same time, what they write is joyful, because the solution they present is the only solution available, and is not provided by us, but only through our King, Jesus Christ. As they describe what happened in the US since the arrival of Covid, I can only say, as a Brazilian, living in Brazil, that the waves of 'terror' that disgraced America last year are coming ashore in my country. When we see churches (and whole denominations) close their doors for the simple request of godless leaders, we can be sure that Christianity (or, better saying, so called Christianity) is in a very ill state! When the 'let's be good examples and close the doors as everything else is doing' discourse starts, we can be sure that we are already curving to Baal ( and he did not even ordered us to do it!!). When we see politics dominate the church's decisions to close its doors, we can be sure that the spirit of our times are, already, upon us. When we see state officials demanding obeisance and obedience from Christians, we can be sure that these 'christians' don't know their Master. I could go on with the examples of what's happening in Brazil right now, but the answer for our ills you can find in this magnificent and courageous book. I hope that at some point in the future, when we, Brazilians, be allowed to enter the US again, to visit Grace Baptist Church in Florida to, personally, shake hands with the authors for so important and bold work. The reading of this book is essential for everyone who calls himself a Christian. It also serves as a motivation tool and emboldens us to act in our small environment, to share the truths that are described in this work. Please read this book and see where you faith really is. If we don't have the guts to have our churches open by the fear of men, how can we sing about the sacrifice of Christ in our behalf and our 'boldness' to proclaim the Word whatever may happen? If we are afraid and cowards, how can we read about the brave martyrs of the church from times past (and even from our times)? May God have mercy of His true Church. May God continue to bless pastors Ascol and Longshore. May their congregation acknowledge their effort to hold the truth in their hands, their hearts, and their actions!
